Native climbers

 Local, indigenous, native climbers.

These native climbers are indigenous to the Maroondah, Manningham and Yarra Ranges council areas and are perfectly adapted to these locations. Seeds are collected by experienced and licensed collectors and grown locally, for private gardens council land and revegetation areas.

Common Name: Purple Apple-Berry
Size:
Relatively small and light
Requirements: Partial sun, moist well drained soils. Will tolerate full sun in cool areas.

Localities: Found in moist areas, usually mountainous in the Yarra Ranges.
Attractive slender twining climber.
Bird nectar and berry provider.

Size: Variable light climber
Requirements: Full sun through to full shade, well drained, dry to moist soils.
Localities: Widespread in various forest types throughout Maroondah, Manningham and the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Soft,  light climber, bushier if grown in a sunny position. Good drought and shade tolerance.
Bird nectar and berry provider, long flowering period.

Medium sized, dioecious perennial climber. Excellent showy climber for use in dry position. Fluffy seed heads are an attractive, long lasting feature.

Very showy when in flower.  Quite fast growing and drought tolerant.  Useful as light screen or to cover embankments.

Very showy when in flower. Prefers semi shaded position. Vigorous climber for growing amongst established trees and strong structures. Too vigorous to be grown on light structures.
