Why become a member of Candlebark Community Nursery Inc?

Candlebark Community Nursery Inc. is a not-for-profit, incorporated association that was first registered on 11 November 1994. For more than 30 years now, our nursery has grown and provided more than a million local native plants to help conserve and enhance local biodiversity. We specifically grow plants indigenous to Melbourne’s outer east, including the Dandenongs, Yarra Ranges, Maroondah, Manningham and surrounding municipalities.

At our 29th Annual General Meeting in November 2024, the membership adopted a new set of Rules of Association. These rules include a detailed description of our purposes, which guide our day-to-day activities.

Run by volunteers for the benefit of the broader community, we rely on our membership to support us in achieving our environmental and social objectives. To help us do this more effectively, we have recently been registered as a charity. The next step is applying for Deductible Gift Status registration, which will enable us to receive tax deductible donations. Very exciting times!

Want to be a part of our amazing social enterprise? Simply complete and submit a membership application form with the applicable annual subscription fee (includes GST). Your membership becomes valid upon receipt of the annual subscription fee by the organisation’s Secretary.

Membership types and annual fees:

  • Concession: $15 per year – for one person holding a Services Australia concession or pensioner card or $20 per couple/family living at the same address. Only persons 18 years or older are eligible for voting rights and must be named on the register. All registered family members are eligible for membership discounts.
  • Individual: $25 per year –for one person
  • Family: $40 per year – covers members of one family living at the same address. Only persons 18 years or older are eligible for voting rights and must be named on the register. All registered family members are eligible for membership discounts.
  • Organisation: $40 per year – for registered/incorporated not-for-profit community groups, schools, kindergartens, early learning centres or registered charities. Single voting right that can be assigned to a nominated organisational representative (by proxy).
  • Business: $100 per year – for businesses and commercial enterprises. Single voting right that can be assigned to a nominated business representative (by proxy).
  • Corporate: $500 per year, which includes all membership benefits plus promotion on our website, newsletter, social media and promotional materials, and the opportunity to place sponsorship signage on site at the nursery. Single voting right that can be assigned to a nominated corporate representative (by proxy).
  • Honorary Life Membership: Complementary life membership, which includes voting rights, for a person or organisation that has made a substantial or extraordinary contribution to the success of Candlebark Community Nursery Incorporated. Nominations must be made in writing to the Management Committee, including details explaining why the person or organisation nominated should be awarded a lifetime honorary membership. Single voting right for each membership.
